Once a year, the Bar Hill Fête & Festival is held in the green of this village. The 2025 event was held on Saturday, 12th July 2025. This was our biggest event yet, the weather was glorious.
Here's a message from Kate Bennett (Chair) and the whole Fête & Festival Committee;
Hi Everyone,
Another year on, and another Fete & Festival is planned and ready to go!
This is the current Committee's fourth year of running the Fete & Festival and we hope this is the biggest and best so far.
The aim of the Fete & Festival is to have a day that residents from Bar Hill and surrounding areas can come together to support local businesses, charities and community groups, have a natter and maybe a drink or two to water down the delicious food on offer. There are plenty of fabulous bands throughout the day and evening to have a little boogie to as well - what more could you want?
To join us this year, please head down to the village hall and village Church from 2 pm on Saturday 13th July.
I'd like to say a massive THANK YOU to the small group of individuals who have made this year’s event possible - there's always room for help, so if you'd like to be involved next year, please contact us at volunteering@barhill-ca.org. Thank you also to the stalls, vendors and bands that will be at the Fete & Festival this year - we hope you enjoy it. A thank you to the volunteers who ensure the stage runs smoothly and to the resident Fete & Festival DJ, Shakey, for his help and support. We'd also like to thank all our sponsors who made the event possible, especially in these tough financial times. You'll see adverts for our sponsors throughout this programme. Finally, thanks to you for turning up! Without your continued support we wouldn't have a Fete & Festival to run.
The Fete & Festival is almost as old as the village itself and we hope it's a tradition we can keep going for many years to come - and maybe one year we'll actually get a sunny day too!
Well done and 'congratulations' to our colouring competition winner Charlotte (age 8) whose picture adorns our front cover, and to the runners up whose picture are on the back.
We hope you have a great day and enjoy yourselves loads
Kind regards
Kate Bennett (Chair) on behalf of the whole Fete & Festival Committee.

Big 10 are a high-energy 10-piece ska and 2-Tone band from Cambridgeshire, delivering the best of Madness, The Specials, Bad Manners, The Beat and The Selecter. With a huge sound, lively performances, and a loyal following, Big 10 are one of the South East’s top ska tribute acts.
Formed by Jason and Andy Periss, Big 10 was born out of a love for the ska scene. Jason had been managing local ska favourites Colonel Hathi, where he met singer Gary Brown and trombonist Bill Smith. Their goal: to bring ska back to the stage, loud and proud.
Band members have toured with Bad Manners and Neville Staple of The Specials. Others have recorded with artists like Macy Gray and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Every member brings professional skill and an unstoppable energy to the show.
With over 500 gigs, Big 10 is a favourite for festivals, weddings, and events. Their infectious setlist and electric atmosphere deliver the ultimate ska party.

Duncan Maletka, the band's founder, also performs vocals, keys, production, and arrangements. Antonino Rina accompanies him on lead vocals and guitar.
In 2014, it started by chance at a party, and I realised how popular and loved 80s music is. So it all took off from there. We do a wide variety of vibrant classics, ranging from the Pet Shop Boys to Erasure, with some Madness on the way. We always pull a great crowd and love seeing the audience dance and sing along!
Melody Coles was immersed in folk and country music from childhood. Growing up sleeping in guitar cases beside the stage while her parents performed, she now plays guitar in hand with her two children in tow.
Whilst her folk Americana-infused songs expose raw, emotive lyrics, she tells powerful stories of motherhood, growing up, love and life. She really flew onto the music scene at just 23, debuting her first songs at Thatchers Sessions presented by Huw Stephens, getting Radio 1 airplay for her toplined songs, and supporting respected folk acts such as Megson, Richard Digance and Nancy Kerr & James Fagan to name just a few. Although a few years older now, following a musical break due to health and raising her children, her sound has matured with her, and we see her back in the spotlight and ready to tell us through song what we've missed. You can catch her on stage with her dad, Bryan Causton, lending his experienced mandolin sounds to her "rich yet ethereal voice" and cellist Simon, who brings a whole new depth to the trio.
